WHAT WE DO

Vermont Rug Studio is a boutique studio specializing in design and production of luxurious hand-knotted woolen rugs.

Design

We design our rugs to the need of our clients. Although generically they come in beautiful traditional designs reflecting the ethnic origin of its kind in the high Tibetan plateaus long ago in the form of cushion rugs, bed-rugs, saddle-rugs, floor-rugs, wall hangings etc., we are able to custom design pieces according to your personal choices. After carefully listening to your preferences and discussing with you about the suitable colors and patterns based on your need we can provide you with design suggestions in the form of to-the-scale color drawings. We will use our expertise to make sure we come up with the best design that will satisfy your need before you can approve for us to put it into production.

Production

Our rugs are handmade in our facilities in Nepal employing the ancient Tibetan hand-knotting technique. They are made mainly of woolen yarn obtained from the sheep in the high plateaus of Tibet or sourced from New Zealand; either way with the final outcome of very durable and high quality products. The fact that our rugs are hundred percent hand crafted they will differ distinctively in how they look from the cheaper machine made pieces easily available in the market. As some leaders in the field have correctly said, they are ‘perfectly imperfect’ one of a kind pieces, rich in signature qualities of a handmade product. We do not compromise in quality and cut corners to compete with mass produced products of lower grades.

Support

Materials we use, including the wool and the cotton warps that provide the foundation, are very strong and durable. The knotting technique that is used in our rugs gives the product a firm and strong construction. However accidents can happen resulting in damages such as holes or tears from sharp and pointed objects which can ruin the rugs. In most cases they may be repairable and professional help can salvage the damaged pieces. In such situations we can help arrange such services for our customers or put them in contact with professionals who can do the jobs well for them.
